Food Philosophy

Anyone who follows me on Instagram or Twitter knows I love to eat.

Good food, in my book, beats everything. So many memories come out of a good meal. There’s always good conversation–whether you are eating with family, or sitting alone at a pub, talking to a bartender, or fellow beer nerds.

Everyone’s got to eat, and everyone has a strong opinion about their food. And when the conversation veers away from what is on the plate, topics range anywhere from life to books to politics and back again.

I will almost never pass on the opportunity for a great meal. And that means I am never going to be a skinny woman. But hey, if good food and better conversation means I am not what society thinks is “beautiful,” than screw them.

Pass the beer and cheese please.

Thanks for being patient with me this week! I’m back from vacation, and I have a BUNCH of stuff to post in the next week or so. It was hard being away from the blog, I kept journaling posts to write! 🙂

Stay tuned!

I’ve shared before that musicals are one of my husband’s favorite things. And his favorite musicals is Jekyll and Hyde. When he’s in a particularly productive mood, he will almost always be blasting that soundtrack, singing at the top of his lungs.

I, however, have never seen the musical, or read the book. So, it’s time for me to catch up. Since it’s spooky October time, I figured it was a perfect opportunity.

I started it yesterday afternoon, just in time for my H #fmschallenge day on Instagram, hence the selfie. Forgive the sloppy hair…that’s what a phone headset does to you.

Comfy Read

If I were more photogenic, you’d get a super cute picture of me, curled up in a blanket in my favorite reading spot, with a topknot and a cup of coffee. Some kind of pinterest/tumblr/instagram type shit.

Instead, you get a picture of Pride and Prejudice hanging out in said reading spot. Sorry guys. I’m lame today.

Also, it’s like 90 degrees today. In October. Welcome to Dallas in the fall.

Trees of Reverie September Readathon Daily Bookish Challenges Day Four

What are your favourite things about people who love to read and are really passionate about books?

Oh my gosh, I love this question. Holy crap. *throws head back and tries not to rant*

Ok. Deep breath.

I have always loved books. I don’t remember NOT knowing how to read. There’s just always been books in my life. My mom reads chick-lit, my Nana reads mysteries. My Grandaddy absolutely loves Beverly Lewis’s Amish series.

Me, I read EVERYTHING. You know this. But I don’t just read, I TALK about reading. I have to. Books are like oxygen to me, and if I can’t be reading, I’m thinking about what to read next, or reading about reading, or making lists about books. And that’s where you guys come in. My people. The people who understand what that feels like, to be obsessed. It’s not enough to just read a book and put it back on a shelf.

No.

Talking about books is the one subject that gets introverts out of our shells. And that’s really hard to do. 90% of the time, we would much rather be tucked away in a corner of a cozy couch reading. But, for an hour, maybe two, we may be coaxed out to a bookstore, or a bar, to discuss what book we’ve read lately at a book club, or just with a group of like minded friends. And then, after the book talk is done, maybe we’ll start talking about other things and stay awhile longer over beer or coffee. But books are what drew us out.

And the Tumblr/Blogging community. How many friends have I made since I discovered you people?! So many! I am writing regularly, and having real conversations about real things. And it all started because of people passionate about books. We just needed a place where we could all converge and post pretty pictures of pretty books and geek out about signings and conventions and OMG GUYS THE NEW EDITION OF HARRY POTTER IS GETTING RELEASED! (So jealous of you people who have those btw.)

We challenge each other to Instagram photo months and these readathons. We do book sprints and cheer each other up when we are in sprints. And we even have our own Bookvengers when someone is being horrible!

I am reading more, I am reading harder, I am reading better, because I am being challenged, supported, encouraged. And most of all, because I enjoy and look forward to sharing it all with you. This is what being a book community is all about. This is why I love book people.

Books & Cupcakes Challenge

Oh My Goodness! Well, I asked for challenges, didn’t I? I reeeeeeeeeeeeeally want to do this one too:

This one is a photo challenge, so I may just do this on Instagram…or maybe I”ll blog about it…I haven’t decided yet.

What do you think? Are you guys getting overwhelmed with how much I’m posting, or MORE MORE MORE? Seriously, let me know. I love posting as much as possible, but I don’t want to make you crazy. Feedback!
